DAYO OKENIYI : AN ACTOR SET FOR SUCCESS.
Dayo Okeniyi is a Nigerian-American actor known for his roles in film and television. At the age of 15, he moved to the United States with his family and settled in Indiana.
Okeniyi developed a passion for acting at a young age and pursued his interest while attending Anderson University. After graduating with a degree in Visual Communications, he decided to pursue a career in acting full-time.
In 2012, Okeniyi made his breakthrough in the entertainment industry when he landed the role of Thresh in the highly successful film “The Hunger Games”. His portrayal of the strong and compassionate District 11 tribute garnered him critical acclaim and brought him international recognition.
Following his success in “The Hunger Games”, Okeniyi went on to appear in a variety of film and television projects. He has appeared in movies such as “Endless Love”, “Runner Runner”, “The Spectacular Now”, “Cave Men”, “Good Kids”, “Emperor”, “Queenpins”, “Fresh”, “Hypnotic” amongst many others. In television, he has had roles in shows like “Revolution”, “Bones”, “Shades of Blue”, “See”, “Dark Matter” and many other tv series.
Okeniyi’s talent and versatility as an actor have allowed him to portray diverse characters across different genres. He has showcased his ability to bring depth and authenticity to his roles, earning him praise from both audiences and critics alike.
He has been praised for his roles in his movies and has earned several awards like; Best International Actor at the 2013 Nigerian Entertainment Awards, Outstanding Breakthrough Performance in a Motion Picture at the 2021 NAACP Image Awards and has earned several awards in different other awards.
In addition to his acting career, Okeniyi is also involved in philanthropic work. He has been an advocate for various causes, including education and youth empowerment.
Dayo was born on June 14, 1988, in Lagos, Nigeria. His father is from Nigeria and his mum is from Kenya. He later on moved to Indiana, United States and later moved to California. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication at Anderson University, Indiana in 2009.
