CHRISTINE WAWIRA : A PRETTY KENYAN-THESPIAN
Christine Wawira Njagi is a Kenyan actress, activist and model known for her talent and versatility in the entertainment industry. She prefers to go by her stage name “Naila Pierce”. Her contributions to the acting world have made her a respected figure in Kenyan cinema.
Christine Wawira was born and raised in Kenya till the age of 7 and later on relocated to London with her family in 1994. After a while she relocated again to Georgia, where she developed a passion for the performing arts from a young age. She joined the drama club in the hopes of getting rid of her shyness and meeting new people. Later on, she was inducted into the International Thespian Society in her Freshman year.
Her breakthrough in the film industry came with her role in the critically acclaimed short film entitled “Gilf” which was later on followed by “Sign of the Dragon” and her character role name was “Naila Pierce” and she decided to adapt the name as well. Her performance received positive reviews, and the film itself gained international recognition, putting Kenyan cinema on the map.
Following her success in “Sign of the Dragon” Christine Wawira continued to showcase her talent in various film and television projects. She appeared in the TV drama series “Between Bullets”, “Blacklisted”, “Justice with Judge Mablean” and many other TV series. She has as well acted in movies like; “Night Call”, “Notes From Wonderland”, “Henrietta’s Unicorn”. “Tough Call”, “Hacksaw” and many other movies as well as short movies. She will be seen in the upcoming film “Fruit of the Poisonous Tree”. This film’s release date has yet to be announced.
Christine Wawira’s career has also extended worldwide. She has had opportunities to work on other projects, collaborating with filmmakers from different countries as well. Her global exposure has allowed her to broaden her horizons and work with diverse talents, contributing to her growth as an actress.
Christine was born in Nairobi, Kenya on December 20th, 1987. She spent her childhood in London, Georgia, Arizona, and California. She is fluent in several languages, including Swahili, Spanish, French and Italian.
In an interview, she revealed winning the Best Actress Award at the 2016 Diaspora Entertainment Awards and Recognition due to the movie “Night Call”.
Aside her acting and modelling career, she owns a company called “Hypnobabies ZenBirth”, which was founded by her.
