Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs” known professionally as “Olu Jacobs” is a prominent Nigerian actor, writer, producer, television personality, script writer, TV broadcaster, business man, entrepreneur and film executive who has made significant contributions to the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood. He was born on July 11, 1942, in Abeokuta, Nigeria. He got his training at the “Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, England”. He worked with various repertoire theatres in Britain and starred in several international movies.

Jacobs began his acting career in the 1970s and quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent and creativity. He is known for his ability to bring depth and authenticity to his characters, captivating audiences with his performances. His acting style is often described as natural and nuanced.

One of Jacobs’ most notable roles was in the movie “The Dogs of War” (1980). The film was a critical success and helped establish Jacobs as one of Nollywood‘s finest actors. Throughout his career, Jacobs has appeared in numerous other successful films, including “Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend” (1985), “Pirates” (1986), “Adesuwa” (2012) and much more. He has worked alongside some of Nigeria’s very talented actors and actresses, such as “Joke Silva” (his wife) , Genevieve Nnaji,Richard Mofe-Damijo and others

He is widely respected for his professionalism, dedication, and commitment to his craft.in 2013, he was honoured with the prestigious “Industry Meri Award for outstanding achievements in acting” at the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards. He has gotten several other awards for his outstanding acting skills.

In addition to his acting career, Jacobs is also involved in theatre productions and has performed in several stage plays. He co-founded the Lufodo Productions Company with his wife, Joke Silva, in 2012 which aims to promote Nigerian arts and culture.

As a veteran actor, Jacobs serves as an inspiration to younger generations of actors in Nigeria. He has been an active figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry and remains highly regarded for his immense talent and contributions to Nollywood.  The veteran actor has been reported ill with Dementia since 2021, hopes are that he gets better.
