MR. LEO : THE LIONN OF 237 MUSIC

Mr. Leo, wh..ose real name is Fonyuy Leonard Nsohburinka, is a popular Cameroonian artist known for his unique style of blending Afro-pop, R&B, and Makossa music genres. He was born on August 21, 1990, and grew up in a military camp in Buea, Cameroon. Mr Leo grew up as a member of the church choir, honing his singing abilities. He is a performer of the Afro-pop, Hip-hop, and dancehall genres.

Mr. Leo rose to prominence in the Cameroonian music industry with his hit single “E Go Better” in 2014, which garnered significant attention and established him as a talented artist. Since then, he has released several successful singles and albums, earning him a loyal fan base both in Cameroon and across Africa. His fate was sealed after, and he soared to stardom almost instantly. Mr Leo secured a recording contract with Alpha Better Records in 2015, and he released a track named “On Va Gérer”, which translates as “We Shall Manage”.

His music often carries messages of love, hope, and social issues, resonating with listeners of different backgrounds. Mr. Leo’s soulful voice and catchy melodies have made him one of the most sought-after artists in Cameroon.

Since his debut in the scene, he has published several albums which includes, “Love Original” (2017), “J’suis desole” (2019), “Lion of Africa” (2021), with his recent album “All The Way Up” (2023) and has a bevy of tracks under his belt, including “Zege Zege”, “Time”, “Pray”, “Jamais Jamais”, “Partout”, and many others. Mr Leo has also worked with Wax Dey, X-Maleya, Locko, Magasco, Hiro, Fanicko, Revolution, Salatiel, Locko, Blaise B, Flavour N’abania and others. He has also performed at various concerts and music festivals, both within Cameroon and internationally.

Mr. Leo’s talent and hard work have earned him several accolades, including the Best Male Central Africa award at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) in 2017. He was nominated at the Balafon Music Awards in 2016 and won 3 awards which included (Song of the Year, Revelation of the Year and Best Vocal Performance), in 2017, his song “Jamais Jamais” won Best Single at the African Entertainment Awards. He has won several other awards and keeps his legacy high as always.

Aside his acting, he signed an endorsement deal in 2017 with Itel Mobile as a Brand Ambassador in Cameroon.

After serving 5 years since 2015 with Alpha Beta Records, Leo left in 2020 and he founded the record label “Lionn Production” through which he produces Cameroonian artists like Kameni, Gomez and many others. In 2021, he was selected to be part of the Grammy Awards Recording Academy.

Overall, Mr. Leo continues to make waves in the African music scene with his unique sound and artistic contributions.
