ZACK ORJI: NOLLYWOOD’S CHARISMATIC ZADDY
Birthname “Zachee Ama Orji” but mostly known as “Zack Orji”. He is a prominent Nigerian actor, Director, Producer and Filmmaker who has made significant contributions to the Nigerian film industry, also known as Nollywood. He was born on October 10th, 1960, in Libreville, Gabon, to a Nigerian father and a Cameroonian mother. He grew up in Cameroon, Togo, and the Benin Republic. He is a graduate of University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Orji began his acting career in the 1990s and quickly gained recognition for his talent and versatility. His first movie was in 1991 entitled “Unforgiven Sin”. He is known for his ability to portray diverse characters, ranging from villains to heroes, with equal conviction and skill. His performances have earned him critical acclaim and a loyal fan base.
One of Orji’s most notable roles was in the movie “Glamour Girls” (1994), where he played the character of Emeka, a wealthy and influential businessman. The film was a commercial success and helped solidify Orji’s position as one of Nollywood’s leading actors. Throughout his career, Orji has appeared in numerous other successful films, including, “Games Women Play” (2005), “30 Days in Atlanta” (2014) just to name a few. He has worked alongside some of Nigeria’s most celebrated actors and actresses, such as Olu Jacobs, Richard Mofe Damijo, Pete Edochie, Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Ramsey Noah and others. He has more than 250 movies to his name.
In 2000, Zack made his directorial debut with the movie “WEB” featuring himself and a Ghanian actress “Kalsoume Sinare”. This movie won best “Collaborative Film” in the 2001 Ghana Awards.
In addition to his acting career, Orji is also involved in preaching the gospel. He was ordained a pastor in 2012 by Bishop Lawrence Osiage of Power Line Bible Church. Ever since, he has been functioning as a Minister of God.
Orji’s contributions to Nollywood have earned him several awards and nominations, including the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. He continues to be an active and respected figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry, inspiring younger generations of actors with his talent and dedication.
