MARC BRYS ON AN ANNUAL 273 MILLIONS FCFA SALARY
Everything is becoming clearer for the new coaching staff of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon. Marc Brys, the new coach of the Indomitable Lions, arrived in Yaoundé on Sunday 7th April 2024. The Air France flight carrying the new coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon recently landed at Yaoundé-Nsimalen airport. He was accompanied by several members of the new staff.
The new boss of the Cameroonian bench was welcomed at Yaoundé Nsimalen international airport by Cyrille Tolo, adviser to the Minister of Sport and Physical Education. Installation is scheduled for Monday 8th April 2024. A few hours before his arrival, he made no secret of his delight at being selected as coach of the Indomitable Lions.
He stressed that the process had been very professional. “I’m curious! I’d like to get started already and we’re ready to put things in place. I was very happy with the selection process. It was very professional”, says Marc Brys. According to a well-informed source, Marc Brys, coach of the Indomitable Lions, will receive an annual salary of 420,000 Euros, in line with his salary expectations. In other words: 273 million FCFA per year / 22,750,000 FCFA per month.
The 62-year-old Belgian has been appointed head coach of the national team, as announced by the Minister of Sport and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, in a press release on Tuesday April 02nd 2024. The former player replaces Rigobert Song, whose contract was not renewed at the end of February 2024. Marc Brys spent most of his career as a player and coach in Belgium. He has also played for Saudi Arabia. He had been out of work since the end of his contract with Belgian club OH Leuven in October 2023.
His team includes former Congolese footballer Joachim Mununga and Giannis Xilouris. He will have two Cameroonian assistants: François Omam Biyick, who is making his return to the national team, and Ashu Cyprien Besong. Former Lion Alioum Boukar, is also back in the squad as assistant goalkeeping coach. Another former international on the staff is Dany Nounkeu, who is the new team manager. Germain Noël Essengue is the team press, while Dr William Ngatchou returns as doctor. There has also been a change in the coordination of selections, with Benjamin Banlock replacing Benoît Angwa.
