KADHY TOURÉ : AN IVORIAN WITH UNIQUENESS
Kadidjata Touré but most referred to as “Kadhy Touré” is an Ivorian actress, screenwriter, producer, English/French Language translator and communications manager of a company born on September 13, 1988 in Bouaké. She had an admiration for acting from a very young age. She achieved exploits in the cinematographic world outside before she permanently settled in Ivory Coast with an aim to help development of Ivorian cinema. She went to a boarding school at the Lycée Mamie Adjoua in Yamoussoukro. After achieving her Baccalaureate, she enrolled at the Abobo-Adjamé University where she was to study Medicine but since she could not finish it, she diverted in to Journalism and Communication and she earned a degree. After she got her degree, she went to Ghana and did 5 years training in English and she returned home with another degree in English.
She began her career in acting by 2008 where she played the role of “Nafir” in the movie “Le Fruit non ripe” an Ivorian-Nigerian production. Due to her creativity and talent, she was called back for a second Ivorian-Nigerian film entitled “Aujourd’hui, demain et à jamais” a movie by Afam Okereke. Later on, she earned a role in the tv series “Signature” where she played the role of “Kathy Coulibaly” a seductive employee the series was directed by Alain Guikou. She has acted in other movies like “Extrême Obsession” by Yao Marfili: Sarah, “Le Mec Idéal” by Owel Brown: La Femme du Pasteur, “Les Larmes de L’amour”, “Les 3 Lascars” and other movies.
She also ventured in movie screenwriting. Her first feature fiction film was “L’interprete” (2016) where she also played a lead role and directed by Olivier Koné. The movie was selected at FESPACO and the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival 2017. She also written, directed and produced several other movies.
She has shown lots of creativity and talents which brought her several awards. in 2017, her movie won the prize for best feature film at FESPACO for the film “L’interprète 1”, in 2018, her movie “L’interprète 2” won a National Award for Bets Feature Film. In 2019, she won prixe for best female performance in the cinema category at La Nuit Ivoirienne du 7e Art and in the same year still, she won prize for best female performance in the French-speaking cinema category at the Zafaa film festival in Nigeria.
Aside her acting career, she launched a Kadhya Touré Foundation. The foundation was created in February 2019 by the actress to help people in distress in the general interest which includes widows, women in difficult situations, children, vulnerable people, violence against women. In fact, she concerns herself with anything that refers to the world of women. She also makes donations in the commune of Adobo and Anyama to different families but also through NGO channels such as the NGO “Vivre ensemble”.
Even with her success, earlier this year, she found herself at the heart of a controversy linked to an X-rated film affair that went viral round the internet.
Beautiful Kadhy Touré has given a lot of impact in her country and has also aided in the cinema development of Ivory Coast. Though controversies in her career, she still never gives up and still is a role model in Ivory Coast.
