In the run-up to the 39th International Women’s Day, under the theme Investing in Women: Picking up the pace, the Cameroon Human Rights Commission (CHRC) is organizing a series of activities to further promote women’s rights, under the impetus of its chairman, Prof James Mouangue Kobila. With this in mind, the CHRC has been taking part since Monday, 4th March 2024, in the fair-exhibition organized by the Ministry for the Promotion of Women and the Family (Minproff) at the National Museum in Yaoundé.

Ms Pauline Bilana, a manager in the Promotion Unit of the UNCHR, points out that the stand features awareness-raising tools for the promotion and protection of human rights, such as the Maputo Protocol and the compendiums of UNCHR declarations, compendiums of declarations and speeches by the President of the UNCHR, statistics on human rights (actions of the UNCHR since 2021 and human rights situations), legal clinics which are areas set up to receive claimants, as well as information on the toll-free number 1523.

The CHRC teams went out to raise awareness among visitors, inviting them to visit the stand. On 6th March 2024, commissioners Endeley née Joyce Bayande Mbongo and Asuagbor née Ayuk Nkongho Lucie, respectively chairwomen of the sub-committee on the Promotion of Human Rights and the sub-committee on the Prevention of Torture at the CHRC , went to galvanise the team at the National Museum, just as Minproff had done a day earlier during her tour, after their appearance on the CRTV RADIO program “Women and Digital Revolution”.
