PRICE OF A KILOGRAM OF COCOA SKYROCKETS

The price of a kilogram of cocoa continues to rise, much to the delight of farmers.

In a recent l press release, the Minister for Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, announced that this price had been reached during a group sale operation.

“The Minister for Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, has the honour, following the group sale of cocoa organized on 5th March 2024 in Abong-Mbang, in the Eastern Region, which resulted in a new record price of 4.225 FCFA/Kg, to salute the excellent performance of the Cameroonian market, now on top of the world, thanks to a buoyant international context and the sustained and recognized recovery in the quality of Cameroonian beans”, said the Minister of Trade.

Another aspect affecting the recent rise in food products is also as a cause of the double fuel price increase within the years 2023 and 2024. This has made the prices food products to skyrocket beyond measures. Presently, even normal consumable rice is like a jewel in people’s houses as a glass cup of rice now isn’t the same as before. The citizens have been complaining about this raise in price and hope it reaches the government so they try working on it.
