SEVERAL CAMEROONIAN ARTISTS PRE-SELECTED FOR THE KORA AWARDS NOMINATIONS
The KORA Awards, also known as the “KORA All Africa Music Awards”, is an annual music awards ceremony that celebrated African music and recognized talented artists from across the continent. It was established by Ernest Adjovi, a businessman and music enthusiast from Benin, in 1994.The primary objective of the KORA Awards is to promote African music and provide a platform for African artists to showcase their talent on a global scale. The awards are aimed to foster unity and cultural exchange among African nations through music.
The first KORA Awards ceremony took place in Sun City, South Africa, in 1996. The event attracted artists, music industry professionals, and music fans from various African countries. It featured performances by renowned African musicians and honoured artists in different categories, including Best Male Artist, Best Female Artist, Best Group, and Best African Traditional Group, among others. The event also plays a role in promoting cultural exchange and fostering collaborations among African artists. It provides a space for artists from different African countries to come together, showcase their talent, and explore opportunities for collaboration and networking.
Throughout its existence, the KORA Awards celebrated a diverse range of African music genres, including Afrobeat, Afro-pop, reggae, hip-hop, traditional music, and more. It recognized artists from various African countries, contributing to the growth and development of the African music industry.
The Kora Awards recently released its top 40 selection for the Kora Awards nominees 2024 edition of the award ceremony. So far 15 Cameroonian artists have been pre-selected for nominations in several categories.
In a tweet from their official Twitter handle (Now X), the KORA Awards encouraged fans to participate in the selection process: “Help shape the Top 40 by voting for your favourite artists. Who deserves to be part of the Top 20 starting on March 1, 2024? Who has captured your ears and conquered your hearts this year?”
