(CANAL +) – For the first time, the famous pan-African legend of Mami Wata is at the heart of a Canal + Original series: Mami Wata, Le mystère d’Iveza.
Created and produced by the talented Samantha Biffot, this event series was awarded the 2nd Prize for Best Series at the 27th edition of Fespaco. Mami Wata, « Le mystère d’Iveza » is a Gabonese production signed by On Est Ensemble Productions and co-produced by Canal + Original, Princesse M Productions and Merveilles Production. To be discovered from November 15 at 8:30 p.m. on Canal + Première.
Created by Samantha Biffot, Gabonese director, producer and screenwriter, this series against a backdrop of fantastic thriller takes viewers into the depths of Mami Wata: When Oliwina learns of the disappearance of her little brother Pao, she decides to go looking for him and then returns to her hometown in Gabon, which she fled so many years ago. In this mysterious lagoon region bordering the ocean, the legend of Mami Wata, mother goddess of the waters that everyone fears, is never far away. And Oliwina is no stranger to it and will have to face her past…
After two years of development, the series was produced by two Gabonese directors: Samantha Biffot, a talent spotted by Canal + across « L’Afrique au Féminin » in 2013, and Marco Tchicot, director of independent short films acclaimed in several international festivals.
The cast of « Mami Wata, The Mystery of Iveza » also brings together Gabonese actors of all generations, including Olivia Biffot, Ivane Izangaud, Jean-Claude Mpaka and Marie-Michelle Zwank who play the main roles.
