LADY PONCE : QUEEN OF 237 BIKUTSI

Populary known as “Lady Ponce” but real name “Adèle Ruffine Ngono”, is a Cameroonian singer and songwriter. She was born on July 24^th 1983, in Mbalmayo, Cameroon. She moved to Yaoundé in 1999, after the death of her mum and joined Chapelle d’Essos, and integrated the local choir. She also performed in cabarets at Camp Sonel and La Cascade.

In 2007, Lady Ponce released her first album “Le ventre et le bas-ventre”, which consisted of six (6) songs. The album led her to win the Canal 2’Or’s Best Voice and Musical Revelation awards for the year 2007. She later followed the success of this first album with three other albums produced by Jean Pierre Saah which were; “Confession” (2009), “La Loi du talion” (2011), and “Bombe atomique” (2012) each containing ten (10), twelve (12) and twelve (12) tracks chronologically. As years passed, she released again some albums like; “Bains de sons” (2015), “Patrimonie” (2017), an album which tells the story of her early life and was produced by KMG Productions. She has released other body vibing songs as years have passed like; “La la la” (2014, “Obele” (2017), “Epoir” (2017), “Fidélité Kmer” (2019) and many others.

Her music gets admiration round the world as she travels round the world for tours. In 2016, she performed at the Viking Centre in Maryland, US, in April 2017, she sang at SEG Geneva Arena for the Afrikan Zik Festival, she later on headlined Afrofest in July 2018 at Toronto’s Woodbine.

She has sang with renowned musicians like; Anne-Marie Nzié , Sally Nyolo, X-Maleya, Koffi Olomide and many others.

In 2007, due to her first album “Le ventre et le bas-ventre”, she was elected “Best voice and female revelation on the Cameroonian scene”. During the Canal 2’Or ceremony organized by a Cameroonian national television, she earned “Best Female Artist of the Year” 2008. She has received several other awards.

Till date, Lady Ponce keeps slaying and bringing to her fans and audience good Bikutsi music that touches the soul and gives them a very good vibe. She keeps being an inspiration to upcoming musicians be it in her Bikutsi field or not. She is a Bikutsi Icon in Cameroon.
