GABON IN PROBLEMS FOR FALSIFYING A PLAYER’S DOCUMENTS FOR AFCON
According to reliable sources, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the body that oversees football in the African continent, has launched an investigation into the age manipulation of a Gabonese player who apparently claims to have been born in 1990. However, analysis reveals that his age claims are unfounded and inconsistent.
Guélor Kanga claims to have been born in 1990, but it rumours have emerged that his mother may have died in 1985, casting doubt on his age. As a result, Kanga is currently being investigated for possible identity fraud when it was discovered that the “32-year-old man” who claimed to have been born in 1990 had lost his mother in 1985, 36 years earlier.
If this is confirmed, “the Gabonese federation risks sanctions for falsifying documents and failing to comply with FIFA’s rules for registering a player” points out Sports.
CAF has asked his club for clarification and has summoned the player, who is in reality Kiaku-Kiaku Kianga (38), to testify before a committee tasked with resolving the matter before the African Cup of Nations, even though Gabon will not be present.
This situation should make all players registered for the AFCON tournament to be on alert as if one falsifies his documents, it might implicate not only the player, his team and a disgrace to the country in a whole. Apparently, with records, this is not the first time with such a case in Gabon.
