MAROUA: A BAR AND RESTAURANT BURNT TO ASHES

As the year comes to an end, lots of things can happen just to prevent people entering the new year with smiles on their faces. A fire recently broke out on the night of Thursday 28th December 2023 breaking Friday 29 December 2023 in the Pitoaré district of Maroua, located in the Far North region of Cameroon.

Firefighters from the 401st Fire Company in Maroua were alerted to the fire shortly after 1a.m.

“On Friday, 29 December 2023 at 1:15 a.m., the emergency services of the 401st Fire Company in Maroua were alerted to a fire in an open space used as a bar and restaurant in the Pitoaré district of Maroua”, information gotten from sources.

The fire was caused by a short-circuit that ignited the premises used as a bar and restaurant in the Patoaré district.

“The fire is thought to have started with a short circuit in the woven straw ceiling, spreading to an adjoining counter and mini-city. The emergency services managed to stop the fire spreading and then put out the flames. The fire caused extensive material damage”, Reported the Fire Fighters.
