ISSAKABA : A FIGHT TO RESTOR ORDER AND PEACE

“Issakaba” is a popular Nollywood five-part movie released in 2001. The movie was produced by Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen and it’s based on true life events.It involves community vigilante boys called Bakassi Boys fighting against crimes like armed robbery and murder cases that put fear and panic in the community.

It is an action-packed film that portrays the theme of justice, loyalty, and revenge. The movie takes place in a rural Nigerian village and revolves around a group of fearless warriors known as the “Issakaba”.

The movie starred actors like Sam Dede, Chiwetalu Agu, Pete Eneh, Amaechi Muonagor, Susan Obi, Mike Ogundu, John Okafor aka Mr Ibu, Andy Chukwu, Zulu Adigwe, Emeka Ani and many other actors who contributed and made this movie a success.

The story follows the main character, Ebube, a skilled and respected member of the Issakaba group. The Issakaba warriors are known for their bravery and dedication to protecting the community from various criminal activities.

Notorious gangs led by several heads, terrorize the village. Most of these  gangs  engage in robbery, kidnapping, and other illegal activities, causing fear and chaos among the villagers. The gangs become a menace to the community, and the villagers are desperate for a solution.

In response to the growing threat, Ebube decides to assemble a team of Issakaba warriors to confront these gangs. The team consists of brave and skilled individuals who are ready to risk their lives to restore peace to the village.

The armed robbers possess certain mystical powers that they use in their robbery activities. Because of this, Ebube and his team of Issakaba boys also acquired powers that enable them to fight against robbery. The movie is full of action, horror and drama.

The movie showcases intense fight scenes, showcasing the martial arts skills of the Issakaba warriors. Ebube and his team engage in a series of battles against the gangs, leading to a final showdown between the several groups.

Throughout the film, themes of loyalty, honor, and justice are explored. The story delves into the personal lives of the characters, their motivations, and the sacrifices they make for the greater good of the community.

« Issakaba » became a significant success in the Nigerian film industry, popularizing the action genre in Nollywood. It has been praised for its compelling storyline, exciting action sequences, and memorable characters. The movie’s success led to the creation of sequels, further expanding the Issakaba franchise in Nollywood.

After 23 years of finishing the movie, it was announced this 2024 by main character Sam Dede who acted as Ebube, that a sequel on the movie will be worked on and soon released .
