GOVERNMENT DONATES MILLIONS TO MBANKOLO LANDSLIDE VICTIMS

In a recent press release, the Ministry of Territorial Administration announced that a total of 92 million francs has been distributed to 56 affected families. The distribution operation was led by Governor Naseri Paul Bea.

In front of the victims who survived the tragedy, Governor Naseri Paul Bea renewed the condolences of the Head of State, H.E. President Paul Biya.

The Governor asked the beneficiaries to make good use of the money allocated to them, by the Head of State. He also urged them to use the money to organise dignified funerals for those who lost their lives, relocate from high-risk areas and secure suitable residences.

The distribution of aid to the victims was attended by the Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) of Mfoundi and the Divisional Officer (D. O) of Yaoundé II.

A recap on the incident, months ago, a massive landslide hit the district of Mbankolo, Yaoundé, Cameroon. This incident happened precisely on October 8th 2023 after a heavy rainfall. This landslide swept away everything in its path and left at least 28 dead with a non-identified body, 110 wounded, 27 houses destroyed and 30 to be destroyed. For the wounded, they were admitted in 4 different hospitals such as; L’hôpital de district de la Cité Verte, L’hôpital Déo Gracias, L’hôpital Central and CURY (Centre Des Urgences de Yaoundé).
