NARCISSE MOUELLE ADDRESSES THE 350 MILLION FCFA THEFT IN HIS OFFICE

In a recent press release issued on Monday 11th March 2024, the head of the communication unit of the Minister of Sport and Physical Education spoke of insidious manoeuvres to distract the staff of his ministerial department.

Last Sunday March 10th, there was a talk of the mysterious disappearance of 350 million FCFA  from the office of the Minister of Sport and Physical Education.  “In the last few days, Minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi has had Minsep staff questioned following the theft of the tidy sum of 350 million FCFA in cash from his office! You read that right. Honest civil servants and government employees were grilled, humiliated and bullied by investigators as if they were on duty in the corner shop”, reported René Ondoua on the subject.

The Ministry of Sport and Physical Education’s communications unit denies this. “An erroneous and grotesque report that has gone viral on social networks refers to a theft of a staggering sum of money of nearly half a billion FCFA from the office of the Minister of Sport and Physical Education. Following an imaginary “robbery”, the Minister reportedly launched investigations during which several officials and civil servants from the Ministry of Sport and Physical Education “were grilled, humiliated and roughed up” by the police. The Minister of Sport and Physical Education issues a clear, firm and unequivocal denial of these false and defamatory allegations”, reads the press release.

Although the press release refers to a denial, research shows that this is not the first time that sums of money have been taken from Mouelle Kombi’s home. Indeed, four years ago, he had a certain Benjamin Rim, his domestic employee, imprisoned on suspicion of having stolen 85 million FCFA from his home, according to sources .
