After FESPACO, where she received the 2nd prize for the best series in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), the talented Gabonese director shines the “green-yellow-blue” by winning the prize for the best series at the Ecrans Noirs. Mami Wata has only broadcast 2 weeks on Canal + channels but the series is making its way in such a short time.

The series has, for its first season, 8 episodes of 52 minutes. This is a real slaughter, full of suspense, twists and surprises. Mami Wata tells the story of Oliwina, a young journalist who returns to her hometown of Agouwé in Gabon to investigate the disappearance of her younger brother. Upon arrival, the bodies of five unidentified children are found in a nearby mangrove swamp. In this small town surrounded by ocean and mangroves, Mami Wata’s name is on everyone’s lips.

Each episode reveals, through the investigation of Oliwina and Martial, a facet of the landscapes and places between the ocean, mangrove and tropical forest of Gabon.
The series was produced by Canal + as part of its ambition to promote African talent.
