Cameroonian international football player, François-Régis Mughe, has reached an impasse after turning down a call-up to the 2023 African Cup of Nations.

Called up by his coach Rigobert Song to play for Cameroon at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations, François-Régis Mughe turned down the invitation, preferring instead to focus on OM (Olympique de Marseille). A choice that has cost him dearly. The “Olympique de Marseille”, have still not received a letter from the Cameroonian Federation authorising François-Régis Mughe to play again.

It has been reported that Marseille’s directors and the young Cameroonian’s representatives have gone to meet the FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto’o, to ask him to allow the footballer to play for his club despite being refused by his national team during the African Cup of Nations. Without success, Régis Mughe will have to wait until the end of the competition to resume playing for his club.

Pablo Longoria, president of the Marseille club, is said to be powerless to unblock the situation. For his part, the Cameroonian international footballer is keen to grab some playing time in January and hopes to leave on loan at the end of the mercato(transfer market). Several League 2 and Swiss clubs are interested in taking the player on loan in the second half of the season.
