Renowned Nollywood actor Sylvester Madu, popularly known as “Shina Rambo” in his movies, recently landed on the streets of Cameroon, as his aim is to film “Abakwa,” a movie addressing the critical issue of drug abuse. The acclaimed actor, celebrated for roles in films like “Karashika”, “Sakobi”, and many others, is set to play a pivotal role in this impactful production.

Sylvester’s early morning arrival in Cameroon on Thursday, November 23rd 2023, at around 3am at the Douala airport, was met with warmth from Cameroonian actor Alenne Menget, who, an hour later, extended a gracious invitation to his restaurant, “Ni’s Kitchen”. There, Sylvester savoured an authentic Cameroonian cuisine, setting the tone for a collaborative and culturally rich filmmaking experience.

The movie “Abakwa”, happens to be a significant cinematic endeavour aimed at condemning drug consumption, presently in production with an energetic Cameroonian team. Franck Johanssen serves as the executive producer, and Me Dama Humphrey is the film’s producer and director.

His visit is centred around shooting the film in Bamenda, sparking anticipation among fans who expect his signature brilliance in the lead role. While the movie’s release date remains undisclosed, Sylvester Madu, along with local youths in Bamenda, has initiated a campaign against drug consumption, underscoring their commitment to addressing this societal concern.

The collaboration between Nigerian and Cameroonian talents not only promises an engaging cinematic experience but also highlights the collective effort to shed light on the pervasive issue of drug abuse. Sylvester Madu’s presence in Cameroon adds a significant dimension to the production of “Abakwa,” amplifying the film’s potential impact.
