SOUTHWEST: FIRECRACKERS SEIZED AND BANNED FOR THE FESTIVE SEASON

The seizure was made on Thursday 28th December 2023, on board a passenger vehicle.

Elements of the Ekok Mobile Customs Brigade in the South-West,Cameroon, after searching the vehicle, found several thousand firecrackers.

The illicit goods had come from neighboring country Nigeria, and were destined for as yet unidentified individuals in Bamenda.

“On 28 December, members of the Ekok Mobile Customs Brigade in the South West seized 7,840 firecrackers from a passenger vehicle traveling from Nigeria. The loot was destined for several people in Bamenda”, information gotten.

In view of the security risks involved, the sale and use of firecrackers have been prohibited by the administrative authorities during the festive season and New Year 2024.
