Renowned Cameroonian writer Djaili Amadou Amal, has turned her ambitious project into reality by inaugurating a new library in Maroua,Cameroon. The brand new building, located at Dengui-Miskine in the Commune of Maroua 1er, bears witness to the author’s commitment to education and the promotion of reading in Cameroon.

The Djaili Amadou Amal Library, which will be operational from Tuesday 23rd January 2024, is a multifunctional space that goes beyond simply providing books. In addition to the library, the building houses a reading area, a conference and training room, and ancillary premises for support activities. This addition follows on from the inauguration of the first library in Douala the previous year (2023). The author, winner of the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens in 2020, expressed her gratitude to the Association des Enfants de Madame ICI, which generously donated most of the books, and to BFK for its logistical contribution. In a message on her social networks, Djaili Amadou Amal also paid tribute to her team, who had worked swiftly to bring this educational and knowledge-sharing project to fruition.

The new library in Maroua reinforces the positive impact of Djaili Amadou Amal in promoting education in Cameroon, offering a space conducive to discovery, learning and intellectual development for future generations.
