SIMI ENGAGES IN DEEP LOVE DESIRES IN “ALL I WANT”

Nigerian Singer and songwriter Simi, has released her first single of the year titled “All I Want.” She explores the deep desires of love with this song and the single is produced by Loudaaa.

She sings of love from an idealist’s perspective. It’s part of what continues to make her one of the more reliable artists in Afrobeats, but even in the familiarity of that charm there are still thrills.

On her new single, “All I Want,” the Nigerian singer is as effusive as ever about the warmth of being wholesomely loved. “No, I don’t want too much from you/You better show me that you love me, just like I love you,” she intones within the opening seconds. These are commonplace sentiments from Simi but the ever-pristine nature of her siren voice elevates these emotions, and her polished craft as a songwriter continues to ensure that every immaculately sung melody is made worthwhile.

The track, “All I Want” dips into the folk-pop territory that helped push Simi into popularity, albeit with some modern touches. As is customary of most songs in Nigerian pop, there are log drum additions to parts of the hook, but the center remains a lustrous, leisurely groove, which fits the joyful yet mellow tone of the song’s theme.

“All I Want” opens Simi’s musical journey for 2024, and it’s a precursor to a packed year for new releases from the singer, as she gears towards the release of her fifth studio album this coming spring.
