The UK-based research organization World Economics, has published its 2024 report on the world’s good governance rankings. In Africa, Cameroon is in the bottom 10 of this ranking.

The World Economics ranking was based on an assessment of four main indices: perception of corruption, rule of law, press freedom and political rights. According to the organization, these different criteria are given equal weight in the ranking.

At the bottom of the ranking is Libya, with an E rating and an index of 15.4. The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is also ahead of Libya with an E rating and an index of 21.6, and Chad is ahead of the DRC with an index of 23.2. It is followed by Burundi (24.4), the Central African Republic (25.1) and Cameroon (27.2).

These countries that have been ranked as the 10 worst-governed nations in Africa, all call for concern . Though Cameroon was ranked amongst the 10, it is not the worst of all because there are other countries worst than it like Congo, Libya and others. These countries all need to review the governing bodies and work on them.
