SHAFFY BELLO: AN ACTRESS WITH ELEGANCE AND CLASS

Shaffy Bello Akinrimisi is a popular Nigerian actress and singer. She was born on October 9, 1970, in Nigeria. She grew up in one of the sectors of Lagos and as a child, she left the shores of Nigeria with her parents to the United States of America where she completed her education. While her stay in the U.S, she acquired the necessary academic training to get started in the entertainment industry.

Shaffy Bello began her entertainment career as a singer in the late 1990s where she featured vocals in a 1997 hit song by Seyi Sodimu titled “Love Me Jeje,Love Me Tender”. She has released several singles. Her music career adds another dimension to her artistic abilities and showcases her versatility as an entertainer. She returned to Nigeria in 2009 and decided to venture into Nollywood which at that period, was one of the lucrative departments of the country’s entertainment sector. When she joined the Nollywood industry, her first movie appearance was in a Yoruba movie entitled “Eti Keta” – (Third Party) where she portrayed a strong and independent woman. This role earned her critical acclaim and established her as a talented actress capable of delivering powerful performances. Even though the movie did not win awards, she saw this as a means of advertising her acting skills to the world. Later on in 2012, she joined the Nigerian Soap Opera “Tinsel” as Joanne Lawson and also played in “Taste of Love” as Adesuwa. Ever since, she has been playing in both English and Yoruba movies like; “When Love Happens”, “Gbomo Gbomo Express”, “Two Weeks in Lagos” and much more.  Since she began acting in several movies, she has become one of the most recognizable faces in Nollywood. She has featured in numerous movies, showcasing her versatility as an actress.

Due to her wonderful talents in movies, she won the hearts of many movie lovers and has also won notable awards. In 2012, she was nominated for Best Lead Actress in an English Movie at that year’s Best of Nollywood Awards. In 2019, she was one of the two biggest awards winners at the 19^th edition of the Abuja International Film Festival in appreciation to her movie “Your Excellency” a 2019 movie which appeared on Netflix, produced by Ebony Life Films and directed by Funke Akindele.
