DIDIER DROGBA CELEBRATES IVORY COAST AS HOST FOR AFRICAN CUP OF NATIONS

Former International Ivorian footballer, Didier Drogba, is delighted with the organisation of the African Cup of Nations in his nation Ivory Coast. The competition kicks off in just a few days’ time.

According to history, is the first time since 1984 that Ivory Coast will host the Africa Cup of Nations. For Didier Drogba, this is an exceptional moment for Ivorian football.

“The fact that I’ve worn the national team jersey and now have the opportunity to see an African Cup of Nations organised in our country is exceptional. We’re very happy to welcome the whole of Africa, the whole world. It’s a celebration”, Didier Drogba rejoices on C.A. F’s website.

For the former Chelsea and Ivory Coast Elephants’ star striker, this is a celebration for the continent that will last for 1 month. “It’s the most beautiful competition for all Africans. I was inspired by Roger Milla, Gadji Celi, Youssouf Fofana and many other players. Our legends have revealed themselves in this tournament. Laurent Pokou, for example, and many others. For us, it’s a celebration of African football. Seeing the likes of Sadio Mané and Obi Mikel unites the continent in a celebration of Africa for a month”, exclaims Didier Drogba.

Didier Drogba, a former candidate for the presidency of the Ivorian Football Federation a few months ago, assures the public that the hospitable nation of Ivory Coast, will be able to welcome the whole continent. “We have a very beautiful country. A hospitable nation and we know that the competition will go well. We are ready to welcome the world in all its grandeur. It’s a privilege to welcome so many guests to Ivory Coast”, rejoices the footballer.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations that will be hosted in Ivory Coast, will kick off on January 13^th and end on February 11^th 2024.
