Segun Arinze, originally known as Segun Padonou Aina, is a Nigerian actor, singer, and film director. His career in the entertainment industry spans several decades, during which he has made significant contributions to Nigerian cinema.

Arinze’s acting career began in the 1980s.  His talent and charisma quickly caught the attention of both viewers and industry insiders, leading to more acting opportunities.

In the 1990s, Arinze ventured into the Nigerian film industry, also known as Nollywood, and became one of the prominent actors of the era. He appeared in numerous movies, including “Silent Night”, “Black Arrow”, “Family Contract”, “Deepest Cut”, “The Island Movie”, “Gold Statue”, “Who is the Boss?”, “Eye to Eye”, “Blogger’s Wife”, “Fine Wine” among others. Arinze’s performances were marked by his versatility, as he portrayed a wide range of characters with depth and conviction.

Arinze’s talent extended beyond acting, as he also delved into music. He released his debut album titled “Dreams” in 1992, which showcased his singing abilities. He went on to release several music albums, including “Nwanyi Yanga” and “Nwanyi Anambra”, earning him a reputation as a multi-talented entertainer.

Arinze’s contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry have earned him recognition and accolades. He has received multiple awards, including the African Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role and the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor.

In addition to his acting and music endeavours, Arinze has also directed films. He made his directorial debut with the movie “Ijele” in 1999, and he has since directed and produced several other films, including “The Family”, “Invasion 1897”, “Lustful Desire” and many others.

Beyond his entertainment career, Arinze is known for his philanthropic efforts. He is involved in various charitable initiatives, particularly those focused on youth empowerment and education in Nigeria.

He was the former president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN). He currently works as an actor coach with African international film festival. He also works as an entertainment consultant and voice over artist.

Arinze was born on September 24, 1965, He hails from Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria. He attended Victory College of Commerce in Ilorin, then went on to Taba Commercial College in Kaduna State to complete his secondary education. He studied Dramatic Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University.
