IVORIAN ARTIST JOSEY GETS AWARDED AT BURKINA FASO

The famous singer Josey was recently honoured during the “Kienfangue Zamnogo Festival” organized in Burkina Faso. It is an event which aims to reward the best artists who present African and local music. For this Edition, Josey was named Best Artist. In addition to this merit, the artist also received a trophy of distinction from the organizers.

Josey, whose real name is Josée Priscille Malonzo, is an Ivorian singer and songwriter. She was born on June 29, 1985, in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Josey’s passion for music started at a young age, and she began singing and performing in school choirs and local events. She gained recognition when she participated in the popular Ivorian music competition show « Castel Live Opéra » in 2008, where she finished as a finalist. In 2014, Josey released her debut single « On fait rien avec ça, » which became a huge hit in Ivory Coast and propelled her to stardom. Thanks to this passion, Josey has explored several varieties of musical genres including coupe-décalé, afro-zouk, soul, afro-dance, and much more. Following the success of her debut single, Josey released her first album titled “Joséphine” in 2017. The album featured several hit songs, including “Diplôme”, “Vendeur d’illusions”, “Mise au point” among others.  Her soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics resonated with audiences across the country and solidified her position as one of Ivory Coast’s most beloved artists. In addition to her solo career, Josey has collaborated with various artists from Ivory Coast and beyond. She has worked with renowned musicians such as DJ Arafat, Serge Beynaud,Tour 2 Garde, Suspect 95 and Mink’s, among others. Josey’s talent and contributions to the music industry have been recognized with several awards and nominations. She has won multiple accolades at the All-Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), the Kunde d’Or, a prestigious music award in Burkina Faso and in other prestigious awards.

Faced with this distinction, Josey did not fail to show his gratitude “I came from Abidjan for the Kienfangue Zamnogue Festival in Burkina Faso. Before the show, I received a distinction from the Chef of Saponé. This beautiful hat that I have on my head symbolizes peace, union and social cohesion, but also elegance. Then I received this trophy of distinction from the Festival organizers”, Josey said.

With hit tracks such as “Diplôme” and “Mise au focus”, Josey is a true icon of African music. She continues to dominate the charts and inspire a new generation of artists.
