Richard Mofe-Damijo, also known as RMD, is a Nigerian actor, writer, Producer, Lawyer, Former Journalist and politician who has had a significant impact on the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood. He was born on July 6, 1961, in Aladja Community of Udu Kingdom, Delta State, Nigeria. He attended Midwest College, Warri and Anglican Grammar School and was a member of the Drama Club. He got enrolled into the University of Benin to continue his education and studied Theatre Arts. In 1997, he returned to the university to study law at the University of Lagos and graduated in 2004.

Richard began his acting career in the late 1980s and quickly gained recognition for his talent and charisma. After graduating from university with a Theatre Arts degree, he later on appeared in the soap opera Ripples as a police inspector, but he gained more popularity as villain Segun Kadiri in rival soap « Checkmate« . Before then, he had a side job as a writer with daily newspaper « The Concord » and other some magazines. « Out of Bounds », was the first film for which he received a writer/producer credit.In 2005, at the maiden edition of the African Movie Academy Awards, RMD won the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. He became one of the most prominent actors in Nollywood, known for his captivating performances and versatility in portraying a wide range of characters. Throughout his career, RMD has appeared in numerous successful Nollywood films, earning him a reputation as one of Nigeria’s finest actors. Some of his most notable films include “Out of Bounds”, “Diamond Ring”, “Hostages”, “Keeping Faith: Is That Love?”, “The Wedding Party” and much more. In his early movies, he always acted with the renown actress Stella Damascus in which they always showed up on screen as partners.

RMD’s performances have been praised for their depth and authenticity, often leaving a lasting impact on audiences. He is known for his ability to bring complex characters to life and evoke strong emotions through his acting.

In addition to his acting career, RMD has also ventured into other aspects of the entertainment industry. He has worked as a television presenter and producer, further showcasing his versatility and passion for the arts.

Outside of his work in the entertainment industry, RMD has also had a successful career in politics. He served as the Special Adviser of Culture and Tourism  to the former Governor, H.E. Emmanuel Udaghan in 2008 and later became the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism of Delta State, Nigeria from  2009 to 2015. His involvement in politics demonstrates his commitment to making a positive impact on society beyond his acting career.

RMD’s talent and contributions to Nollywood have earned him numerous awards and accolades. He has won multiple Africa Movie Academy Awards and was named Best Actor at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards. His talent and dedication have solidified his status as one of Nigeria’s most respected actors.

Off-screen, RMD is known for his charismatic personality and philanthropic efforts. He is actively involved in various charitable initiatives and uses his platform to advocate for social causes.
