Simon William Kum is a Cameroonian film producer and actor who has done remarkable works in the Cameroon movie industry. He began his first steps as a Producer and Director in 2015, with his short film “AWA”, which was later followed with his first feature film “Hunted” in 2016, in 2017, he featured in the movie “Behind”. Within the same year, 2017, he worked as an assistant director of the series “Kola Du Lion”.  In 2018, he produced his third feature film, and an actor in the film “Un Délit de zero” by Laure Kamdem. In 2019, he produced and directed his first series entitled “Echec et Mat” and his fourth feature film “Sangouna”. In 2020, he produced and directed his second series “Sexe War” and his fifth feature film “Sin”, he also directed other movies like Vengeance (2022), Me-Nah (2018) and many others in which he performed wonders in the movies. He continued in 2021 with another series “AU Feminin”.

Having more than fifteen years of experience, in 2020, he decided to create a structure called “Waves Group” which consisted of two entities, one called “Waves Distribution”- specialised in the distribution of cinematographic works in the four corners of the world; and the other entity called “Waves Film Production” – specialized in audio-visual production and production.

In 2018, he was awarded as the best actor at the FICIB (Festival International du Cinéma Independent de Bafoussam) Festival with his film “Behind”, and also received special mention of the jury with his series “Guerre Des Sexes” at the “Vue d’Afrique Festival” of Canada.

The said Producer, Director and movie actor was born in Limbe, Southwest, Cameroon on 31st August, 1982. He grew up in a modest and respected family. He did his primary education at the Bilingual Primary School of Limbe Down Beach. After that, he continued and had his secondary education and high school at GHS Limbe where he obtained all his Ordinary Levels and Advanced Levels Certificates. He subsequently went to the University of Buea, and enrolled in the Faculty of Bilingual Letters.

With so much passion about the 7th art professions, he decided to embark on an accessory and production training at the “Espece Art Training Centre” owned by Alfonse Ongolo in January 2004, and he earned a diploma in acting and training in film production.  To improve his skills, he decided to do an online training within 2011-2014 both in Cameroon and Nigeria. During his training period, he was able to seize opportunities by playing in several projects from 2005 to 2015 such as Alphonse Ongolo’s “Diamant Sacrée et Negro”, “Pierced Condom and Shadow of Suspicions” by Serge Kendjo, he also played in “Ma Femme”, “Mon Beau” of Edmond Fossito, “Entre Amis” by Ousman Stéphane, and “Beautiful Day To Die” by Guillaume Tambele.

Simon was recently invited by the Écrans Noirs’ round table, on October 20th 2023, at the National Museum to share feedback on collaboration with TV5 Monde.

His series “La Guerre Des Sexes” was also recently nominated at the Canal 2Or Award Festival as Best Tv Series.
