MIC MONSTA : THE MICROPHONE NJOKU

Mic Monsta, whose real name is Molua Alous Mosima, is a Cameroonian hip-hop recording artist Aka “Mayor of Punchline” known for his powerful lyrics and energetic performances. He was born on February 6, 1991, originates from Kumba, Cameroon.

He started rapping at the age of 16 in 2008 and by 2010 he started recording while still in high school. His first song on tape was “I No Get Chorus” which went viral around Kumba Town and the southwest region of Cameroon earning the young rapper some radio plays on local radio stations. This motivated him and he began working on his mixtape under Best Music Inc entitled “My Thoughts” within 2012/2013 which was made up of cover songs of the people who inspired him into the world of music like; Kendrick Lamar, M.I.A., Lil Wayne, and Ice Prince.

In 2014, the talented artist was becoming a firm root in 237 rap in Cameroon and he did a remix of Jovi’s song entitled “Bwam”. The song was leaked online and Jovi did not take it well and rained insults on Mic Monsta but shockingly, it instead raised the fan base of Mic Monsta.

His major-label debut, 2016 “Fear”, Which showcased his lyrical prowess and unique flow. He quickly established himself as one of the most promising hip-hop artists in Cameroon.

His music often addresses social issues, including corruption, inequality, and the struggles faced by the youth in Cameroon. Mic Monsta’s thought-provoking lyrics and storytelling abilities have resonated with listeners, earning him a dedicated fan base.

Mic Monsta dropped a verse on his “ETP8Koi remix” and the punchlines got him a deal with a new record label “Kreef Entertainment” and in 2017, he dropped his own studio project titled “Mic Monsta the EP” which included his major hit “Fear” and the “Kwata Music Inc” dropped his first debut album which was distributed worldwide by “Kwata Music Inc” and Coastal Records “Kwata Diary” which received critical acclaim and further solidified his position in the Cameroonian music scene. In 2019, he dropped another single entitled “Johnny” which went viral nationally and internationally. The song was produced by hit master Dijay Karl. It tells his life story how he worked and is still working to make his family proud. With all the four record labels he has worked with, he made a good name for each and everyone of them due to his hard work and consistency.

Since then, Mic Monsta has continued to release successful singles such as “Johnny”, “No No”, “Fear”, “One Pot Soup”, “Local Lokito”, “Overdose” and many others. He has also released albums which include; “Kwata Diary” (2018), “The Stars are Watching” (2022), and “Vibes Clinic” (2020).  He has also collaborated with talented artists like; Salatiel, Mr. Leo, Jovi, Seta Beatz, Dready Christ, Crispy, and many more. He has also worked with renowned producers such as Slimbeatz and Dijay Karl among others, further enhancing his sound and musical versatility.

Mic Monsta’s energetic stage presence and captivating performances have made him a sought-after artist for concerts and music festivals in Cameroon and beyond. He has shared stages with international acts such as Davido and J. Cole, further elevating his profile.

In recognition of his talent and contributions to the music industry, Mic Monsta has received several accolades, including the Best Male Central Africa award at the All-Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) in 2018, still in the same year, his album “Kwata Diary” was nominated for Best Album at the Urban Jamz Award. He has earned several other awards due to his inspirational verses.
