BORIS KODJOE: AN ACTOR WITH CLASS AND STYLE

Boris Frederic Cecil Tay-Natey Ofuatey-Kodjoe is a Ghanaian-German actor, producer, and former fashion model. He was born on March 8, 1973, in Vienna, Austria, to a Ghanaian father and a German mother. He grew up in the vicinity of Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University on a tennis scholarship and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 1996. He is currently ninth in school history with 75 career singles wins.

Kodjoe began his career as a model and quickly gained success, working for prestigious brands such as Ralph Lauren, Yves Saint Laurent, and Versace. He was also featured in several magazines, including GQ and Essence.

In the late 1990s, Kodjoe transitioned into acting and made his debut in the film “Love & Basketball” in 2000. He gained critical acclaim for his role as Damon Carter in the television series “Soul Food”, which aired from 2000 to 2004. This role earned him three NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Kodjoe has since appeared in various films and television shows, including “Brown Sugar” (2002), “Madea’s Family Reunion” (2006), “Resident Evil: Afterlife” (2010), “Resident Evil: Retribution” (2012), and “Addicted” among others.  He has also had recurring roles in popular TV series like; “The Steve Harvey Show” (1998), “All of Us” (2003), “Eve” (2004), “SoulFood” (2000-2004), “The Real Husbands of Hollywood” (2013-2016), “Station 19” (2018 till present) and many others.

In addition to his acting career, Kodjoe is also a producer. He founded the production company Global Renaissance Entertainment.

Kodjoe’s talent and dedication have been recognised with accolades such as the NAACP Image Award , the Screen Actors Guild Award and many others.

Outside of his professional life, Kodjoe is known for his philanthropy and advocacy work. He co-founded the Sophie’s Voice Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising awareness about spina bifida and supporting families affected by the condition. Kodjoe himself has a daughter with spina bifida.

Kodjoe has been married to actress Nicole Ari Parker since 2005, and they have two children together. The couple has been vocal about their support for various causes, including education and racial equality.
