A young little girl called Princess, is a 13-year-old student residing in Bamenda who is a victim of rape. Tragically, after experiencing the traumatic incident of being raped a few months ago, she and her family have recently come to realise that her suffering is far from over. She was compelled to keep her trauma a secret until a few days ago when her parents noticed changes in her mood and physical appearance.

Her mother informed the media, that she had to request a pregnancy test, and the result was positive. ” I could not believe my eyes, so I went to different hospitals to confirm that my 13-year-old daughter was impregnated by a rapist,” the mother explained to the media. After some enquiries were made, a minor has been identified the alleged rapist. The individual identified as Adamu, who is the author of the minors’ pregnancy, has acknowledged his responsibility for the situation. After several investigations, the family reported to the police about the suspected rapist, Adamu. However, even after being the complaint, the young man is still free and roaming the streets.

In painful tears, Princess’ mother shared, “Today, we reached out to the judicial police to inform them of the situation. However, they questioned whether we were certain that Princess was pregnant. This interaction has left us feeling hopeless about the possibility of obtaining justice through the security forces.”
Princess has undergone an examination at the Bamenda Regional Hospital, but the medical staff has not disclosed the age of her pregnancy to her parents.

According to guidance counsellors, it is advisable to seek proper counselling for the little Princess in order to prevent any additional harm or trauma.

According to reports over the years, several rape cases have been really rampant and it is a call for concern that needs to be treated with care.
