NETFLIX RELEASES ONE-OF-A-KIND YORUBA EPIC MOVIE: “JAGUN JAGUN”

The Nollywood Yoruba movie “Jagun Jagun” was released on Netflix by August 10^th 2023. In barely a week after its release, the Yoruba Nollywood movie, “Jagun Jagun” hit 2.1 million views on Netflix globally and now ranks fifth on the non-English global charts. The movie was directed by “Adebayo Tijani” and “Tope Adebayo”. The record of this movie’s performance pulling in on August 15, 2023, shows that it has 2.1 million hours of viewing time on the streaming platform “Netflix”. The “Adebayo Tijani” and “Tope Adebayo”-directed movie also came in the top 10 in over 17 countries in just 48hrs of its release, on August 10, 2023.

The countries “Jagun Jagun” tops the chart in, include; Bahamas, Cyprus, Egypt, Guadeloupe, Jamaica, Kenya, Martinique, Mauritius, Oman, Qatar, Reunion, Romania, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and even the movie’s very own country Nigeria.

Presently, in the movie “Jagun Jagun” meaning “The Warrior” has reached the fifth spot in non-English global chats, beating other non-English films released during the same period like; “Marry my dead body” from Korea, “Adipurush” from India and “The raid redemption” from Indonesia.

This is good news for “Femi Adebayo” the movie’s award- winning producer and Nollywood at large because it has done so well in ever since its release.

“Jagun Jagun” tells the story of a young man determined to become a powerful warrior joins an elite army, encountering the wrath of a lunatic warlord and the love of a ferocious woman. The movie’s setting is during the precolonial era in the Southwestern part of Nigeria.  The movie features actors such as; Lateef Adedimeji, Adebayo Salami, Ibrahim Yekini, Bukunmi Oluwasina, Mr Macaroni, Bimbo Ademoye, Odunlade Adekola, Fathia Balogunand it hosted other actors and actresses.

 The movie has had several applauses on social media. Several social media influencers praised the movie for example on Twitter, “Olorilfc” reacted to the movie and wrote, “The movie is top-notch. All the actors delivered. There was no dull moment from start to finish. Kudos to Femi Adebayo and Lateef Adedimeji. 10/10 for me.”

This Netflix’s latest ambitious movie has begun on a journey of fame and it shows a bright future for the film itself regarding awards it will take and has also given more fame to the directors and producer.
