Recently, information has been going on about a certain brand of rice, that was discharged at the port of Kribi, and apparently it is researched in Cameroon to avoid consumption. The alert was released by the Divisional Officer of that area.

In a memo, the Divisional Officer of Kribi or rather called “Ocean region” describes a real scandal. He goes further explaining about some 2,000 tonnes of rice of dubious quality, that have recently been unloaded at the port of Kribi.

The Divisional Officer is currently looking for this rice, which is very harmful to the health of Cameroonians. According to a well-informed source, this rice, which is being actively sought on Cameroonian territory, has already killed consumers in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is a mystery why 2,000 tonnes of the 10,000 tonnes of rice being transported by a ship were unloaded at the port of Kribi.

The Divisional Officer is therefore asking on the whereabouts of this rice, which is dangerous for Cameroonians to consume.

In order to shed light on the matter, the Divisional Officer is calling the phytosanitary police at the port of Kribi to give an account.

The administrative authority is also wondering how the phytosanitary inspection reports for the unloaded cargo were signed on 08 and 09 November, even though the ship only docked on 12 November.

Further information will be released, after several investigations on this case.
